We use wood only from sustainably managed forests which mean the more wood we use, the more the forests grow as more trees are planted than harvested. Good news in the fight against Global Warming, as the more forests grow, the more carbon dioxide is sucked out of the atmosphere, the more oxygen is produced. Using wood in place of less environmentally friendly materials ensures the carbon sink effect of forests is put to good use, rather than being lost through natural death and decay.
Combined with energy efficient LED light units the LUMINAIR ECO range of products will help save you money as well as the environment. The aluminium we use contains a 30% minimum recycled content, is sourced within the UK and is easily recyclable.

WOODS...
Black walnut was chosen for the ECO lamp for a number of reasons... one of the challenges that we faced making the ECO lamp in quantity was the availability of an environmentally secure and sustainably managed sourced wood that would give interesting figuring, strength, ease of turning and working and that looked great too. American black walnut gave us all of these. The species is reported to be demonstrably widespread, abundant and secure globally. The wood produces a great variety of very unusual figures, is very easy to turn and is relatively light in weight, absorbing shocks well. The wood is strong and can withstand extra weight with little deflection or bending, in fact it is stronger than oak! All that and it produces nuts too.
