Luminair is a UK design and manufacturing studio founded in 2005 by industrial designer Jason Thawley. Dedicated to instilling a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to product design and manufacturing Luminair offers unique, innovative and durable product concepts that utilise energy efficient manufacturing processes along with recycled and sustainable materials.
Services include idea and concept development, industrial design, research, product strategy, product identity, product design and detailing, manufacturing support, bespoke builds and eco-conscious instillations.
Specialising in lighting design, from Luminairs own range of unique products to commissions for other like minded companies, projects also vary from interior products, small domestic appliances and packaging to consumer electronics, professional audio equipment and project furniture.

It's been a great start to our Tree Tent venture this year with our first ever TT build being followed for George Clarke's Amazing Spaces series on Channel 4. George explores the extraordinary world of small builds, where people turn tiny spaces into the most incredible places to live, work and play. He even tries making one of his own.
Tree Tents are lightweight, hybrid aluminium and steam bent, green ash static airframes. They enable minimal impact living in the trees. The spherical structure is encompassed by a 16oz / 455gsm rot and waterproofed 100% cotton canvas tailoured by The Lindstrand hot air balloon factory famed for their earth and space bound Technical fabric structures, airships and balloon projects. Luminair's Eco self-build live/work space was proud to host the opening of this years Brighton & Hoves Eco Open Houses event. Eco Open Houses is an annual collaborative project between Brighton Permaculture Trust, Low Carbon Trust and Brighton & Hove City Council. This year the event was run as part of the EcoFab 2 project and was selected within the scope of the INTERREG IV A France (Channel) – England cross-border European cooperation programme and is co-financed by the ERDF.

The new luminair camp is our homage to the faithful camping lantern and offers a very versatile luminaire - just at home on your coffee table as on your patio. It features a hand turned, English Elm base, energy efficient LEDlight source, maple veneer shade and a rechargable Li-Ion battery pack.
