The LUMINAIR RE-LIGHT table lamp is made from 100% recycled plastic bottle sheets. The sheets usually contain shampoo, detergent and milk bottles that have been collected, sorted, flaked and thoroughly washed to remove any remaining contaminants. Looking like multi-coloured corn-flakes the pieces are then compressed in a large mould by a hydraulic press and formed into sheets by a process of heat and pressure which fuse together the plastic pieces. This retains the colours of the original bottles without the use of any binding agents or resins. We then cut the sheets to size and form into the shades. Even the lamp holder brackets are cut from the recycled sheet, using a low power milling machine powered from re-newable energy to further ensure their eco status.
